During your initial appointment, your dentist will discuss with you about your cosmetic dentistry goals. Your dentist will inform you if Invisalign is a treatment option that you should consider.
A small number of patients may not be suitable for this type of process. If you are a good candidate for Invisalign® clear braces, then your dentist will discuss treatment protocol and give you an estimated treatment timeline.
Next, is the digital molding process. This step could happen during your initial appointment with your dentist, or a separate one, depending on scheduling.
A digital scan, along with photographs and x-rays, will create a precise model of your mouth and teeth. These models are then sent to the Invisalign laboratory for the creation of your custom aligner trays.
When your Invisalign trays are ready, it’s time to return to the office. Depending on your mouth and teeth, your dentist may then fit small attachments on your teeth. These small, clear buttons will help the trays to stay in place. They are painless to install, and will only be temporary. Your dentist will check if your aligners fit. Once your trays are properly fitted, and your aftercare program is clearly explained, you’ll be ready to go!
Your next appointment after your tray is fitted is only a few weeks later. During this next follow up, your dentist will check your tooth movements, and the tray fit.
A series of Invisalign trays will make up the entire process. Unlike traditional metal braces, you will not need to return for regular appointments with Invisalign clear braces. Instead, you will return periodically to check your progress
After a period of time, your teeth will have straightened out. The final results will depend on the severity of misalignment to start with, of course, but so long as they are worn as prescribed, you are guaranteed to have straighter teeth over a period of time.
