Replacing Multiple Teeth
Multiple Tooth Implant
Today, thanks to numerous advances in dental technology and treatments, you have several options for replacing missing teeth. In addition to traditional bridges and dentures, you also have several implant options as well. If you are missing several consecutive missing teeth, Peninsula Center of Cosmetic Dentistry can replace those missing teeth with a multiple tooth implant.
How Many Teeth Can Dental Implants Replace?
Dental implants can be a viable solution in many situations. In addition to replacing a single tooth, they can also be used to replace several consecutive teeth as well as an entire arch. We can tailor your multiple tooth implant treatment to your individual needs.
Implant Supported Bridge
One option for replacing several missing teeth is an implant supported bridge. This type of solution offers an implant alternative to a partial denture. With this solution, however, there are no metal clasps that help to stabilize your replacement teeth. Instead, two or more posts implanted into your jawbone help to secure your new teeth in place. The posts are placed in such a way as to provide you with the greatest amount of support possible, ensuring the strength, security, and longevity of your new teeth.
Full Arch Restoration with an Implant Supported Denture
We can even replace an entire arch of teeth using dental implants. This type of restoration typically uses between 6 and 8 posts to secure your teeth into your mouth, providing you with stability that cannot be achieved with a traditional denture, no matter how well the restoration fits or how much denture adhesive you use. This solution also provides other incredible benefits over traditional dentures as well, including being irremovable, easy to care for, and comfortable. An implant supported denture also feels and functions the most like your natural teeth.
Other Full Arch Restoration Options
An implant supported denture is not the only implant option for replacing an entire arch of teeth. For some patients, the bone is not strong enough to support the number of implant posts used for an implant supported denture. Rather than having to have a bone graft done, you may be recommended for what is known as All-on-4® Treatment Concept. This is a full arch solution that uses only 4 posts.
Another option is a bar retained implant supported denture. This particular solution uses 4 posts as well, but instead of your replacement teeth being screwed into place, they snap into place on a bar. This bar is attached to your dental implant posts after they have been surgically replaced. While you receive the same incredible benefits as other implant solutions, your teeth are actually removable.
Am I a Candidate for a Multiple Tooth Implant?
If you have suffered the loss of several teeth, you may be able to have your teeth replaced with a multiple tooth implant. While there are many different types of implant solutions for multiple missing teeth, a consultation is still necessary. During your consultation, we will go over your medical history and your lifestyle habits as well as take necessary images. We can assess your jawbone and make sure that the implants are truly the right solution for you.
